Summertime

What the tourist industry sells as all-inclusive or customized travel is often the avoidance of true travel. The meaning of travel is turned upside down: instead of exposing oneself to the foreign, one pays money to avoid it.

The avoidance tours begin on brochures and maps, where the whole world is seductively clearly presented, on the smallest scale, on every square inch information about information, so condensed that you can not even fall through the taut net. Before you set off, you already know the name of the foreign country and which exit leads to it.

Take a journey, my friend, the Sufi poet Rumi once sang, from the I to the Self. Such a journey turns the world into a gold mine. And it never follows predefined paths, but our own path.
