"Today, we humans face the huge task of reorganizing our relationship with nature. Climate change, the decline of biodiversity, the loss of arable land, the disruption or even destruction of natural reproductive cycles, and finally the contamination of all natural media, air, water and soil, demand changes in human ways of producing and consuming. But even in advance of such efforts, they demand changes in our attitudes toward nature. And this is where natural aesthetics can make its contribution: for it implies a knowledge of nature in which humans are emotionally involved."
