Messner Mountain Museum

The MMM Corones, located at over 2000 m, designed by architect Zaha Hadid.

Architect Hadid is known for her free-form architecture based on digital design techniques. Nature and the environment play a crucial role here, as the architectural forms seem to merge with the external conditions. Concrete is chosen as the exterior and interior cladding material at MMM Corones because no other material can be molded so well into all conceivable shapes. And it also fits best with the rock theme, in terms of both look and feel. The color of the concrete and the building itself - which is largely underground in order to intervene as little as possible in the landscape and avoid additional construction on the summit - blend naturally into the surrounding mountain landscape.
